Of Guardian’s 33,000 subscribers 6,000 are in banking, using the Guardian MPS service as a means for mitigating their risk for kidnapping and violence.
Front desk and office workers are often the first point of contact in a building — and frequently the most exposed. Receptionists, hotel desk agents, office administrators, and lobby attendants regularly interact with the public alone, manage after-hours access, or close up a facility at the end of the day with little backup nearby. Incidents of verbal aggression, threatening behavior, and workplace violence toward front-facing office staff are far more common than most organizations acknowledge.
Whether a front desk worker is staying late to finish up, greeting an unknown visitor without a colleague in sight, or de-escalating a difficult interaction at the lobby counter, the risk of being alone in a vulnerable situation is real. GuardianMPS gives office and front desk workers fast, discreet access to help — and keeps supervisors and response teams instantly informed when something goes wrong.
A lone worker safety solution such as GuardianMPS can help organizations protect their front-of-house staff and give peace of mind to employees, managers, and the people responsible for their wellbeing.

No. It is a good practice though, as starting up resets everything to its optimum configuration. When you first get your device it is preferable to leave it charging overnight so that any software updates can be sent.
The amber light will flash fast while booting up, then show 2 quick flashes every 5 seconds. This indicates the device is connected with the GuardianMPS server.
The blue light flashing indicates network and GPS communications. When connected to a 4G network, the device can connect the panic alarm call to our monitoring center. When the device sends us GPS coordinates, we can pinpoint your location. We give the location coordinates to the police if we need to dispatch them to help you.
The device will flash blue alternating as below:
1 Flash = GPS enabled, followed by;
3 Flashes = Connected to 3G
If the single flash is not showing, the device is not receiving GPS (typically due to buildings obscuring the signal). The device stores the previous GPS data even though new GPS data is not being received. That location will be sent to the response center. If the single blue flash cannot be seen, move to an outside position clear of tall building, that will ensure there is up to date GPS data.
To a point. It is rated to be splashed with water, but total immersion is not advised.
Depending on the response protocol, our monitoring center or a supervisor will try and contact you on your cell phone. In addition, the response service records any audio from the device. The response center can determine if there is a struggle, a code word or sentence being used, or just general background noise.
